Our MISSION

To champion the intrinsic value of individuals with Down syndrome as they fulfill God’s purpose for their lives.

We accomplish this mission by:

• Providing families in the Down syndrome community, who are experiencing financial strain, with medical and assistive equipment, care packages, developmental tools and therapy resources.

• Educating families and providers about effective and cutting-edge techniques, procedures and programs that maximize our children’s lived experiences with expert-led sessions offering insights, guidance, and real-life stories.

• Building a connective space for voices that are too often unheard, sharing stories of strength, resilience and hope, and fostering a community that defies societal expectations.

• Inspiring a movement that leads with love, recognizes and fights for the dignity of every person, and pushes back against the prejudice and indifference that limits us all.

Our Vision

Our vision is a world in which all human beings with Down syndrome are treated with respect, dignity, and love at every stage of life. A world where they are not required to prove their value, defend their existence, or fight for access to opportunity

Our why

Our society often measures worth by abilities, achievements, and the capacity to fit into a predetermined mold.

Those who don’t conform—those who are different—are often sidelined or even discarded. We see this very evidently in the US statistic that over 67% of children suspected of having Down syndrome are aborted. In some countries that statistic grows to 100%. 

This mindset leads to a harsh reality: Children with Down syndrome are often undervalued, marginalized, and overlooked. They face a world where they are mocked, where labels and outdated stereotypes follow them, and where the families caring for them are often isolated and unsupported. Yet, the greatest threat to these individuals isn’t even ignorance; it’s indifference—a world that doesn’t see or celebrate the intrinsic value in every child. 

At Team Iron Will, we’re on a crusade to love and advocate for every individual with Down syndrome. We know that every child has God-given potential, and we are committed to helping them—and their families—find a place to belong. We refuse to let the world’s standards define our children’s worth. We believe in the inherent dignity of every person, and we fight for a world where they are valued, celebrated, and given every opportunity to thrive. 

To that end, we are equipping families with the developmental tools, therapy opportunities, and other resources that they need to help their children reach their fullest potential. We are providing a platform for voices that are too often unheard, sharing stories of resilience and strength and fostering a community that defies societal expectations. And we are pushing back against the prejudice and indifference that limits us all by inspiring a movement that fights for the dignity of every person from the moment they are created.

In a world that equates value with usefulness, we see things differently. A child's worth isn’t in their abilities or achievements but in being made in the image of God. We’re here to remind every child with Down syndrome, and everyone who loves them: You are valuable simply because you are.

PRESUME COMPETENCE ALWAYS

We strive to help every child with Down syndrome discover and fulfil God’s plan for their lives. This includes helping them discover the many gifts and talents God has given them. We all have limits, and we’re all called to push them. So, we don’t compare our kids; we just do everything we can to help them grow. And we always presume competence. Yes, our children need extra help sometimes, but we believe in letting them try first, help if needed, and cheer them on no matter what!

DEFEND AND ADVOCATE

In order to create a world where people with Down syndrome truly belong, we must begin by defending their right to life. Our advocacy begins by recognizing the inherent worth in all human beings. We advocate for children in the Down syndrome community both before and after birth, and we walk with families after birth to ensure that they have access to the tools they need to help their children live fulfilling lives. Children with DS make this world a better place simply through their presence. They set for us examples of undaunted perseverance, authentic joy, and unconditional love. They are immense gifts to all. 

LEAD WITH LOVE

Families with children with Down syndrome often need someone to love and believe in them. We know from experience that love opens our eyes to what we’re capable of. Whether you’re a kid, a parent, or a member of our community, we are your biggest fans because, often, that’s all you need to rise to the challenge in front of you. So we lead with love in all we do.

Team Iron Will’s minimalist and nuanced “phoenix in flight” logo represents hope, resilience, and overcoming challenges. An image of strength and courage, the Team Iron Will phoenix resembles a superhero badge with a subtle “W” as a nod to our organization’s inspirational namesake. The three upward arrows which form the wings suggest momentum and relentless forward progress and are a reference to the three copies of the 21^st chromosome associated with Down syndrome.
