Sometimes life is hard. Our children require a lot of extra things. When Will was beginning to stand, we were gifted a gait trainer and it made a huge difference in his journey. It wasn’t going to be covered by insurance or our state's Early Intervention program. But having access to one really gave him the confidence he needed. Not only that, but it offered him some freedom to explore the world around him.
Shortly after, we began talking with other parents who had stories similar to ours. They were drowning in medical bills, had gone down to one income after the birth of a medically complex child, and were just trying each week to make ends meet without a lot of extra income to provide needed therapy tools or medical equipment.
All our kids deserve access to medical and therapy equipment, developmental toys, and other tools that help them to live their best lives and to reach their God-given potential. Our goal is to impact the Down syndrome community and change futures by helping families get the help they need to see their children thrive and to show parents going through tough times that they are not alone.
This is our buddy, Colt. He's an amazing 3 year old boy who loves all things "Toy Story" and is as cute as can be. His family needed help with an adaptive stroller to make his many medical appointments more comfortable for him. So honored to have helped him in this way!
If you've followed us for long you know that we've had to use this life saving device twice with Will. Being able to help families in the Down syndrome community afford the Life Vac for their own peace of mind, has been a great blessing.
We now partner with LifeVac, so use code IRONWILL to save 20% on any purchase.
Every person with Down syndrome has unique needs. We were able to provide a very sweet girl with a high chair that will grow with her (as she will need it long term) and provide comfort to her family who wanted her to be safe and comfortable.
We have an ongoing effort to provide care packages for families in the DS community who have been diagnosed with Infantile Spasms.

This winter we helped two families to purchase their own oxygen concentrators after being denied by insurance. It shouldn't be difficult to get insurance to help families with a purchase like this, but at times it is. No little one should have to go without oxygen support at home.
Staying out of the hospital during the winter can be difficult for some of our kids. Having good equipment to help with nasal congestion and monitoring oxygen can really help. Artem has a hole in his heart and needs extra support. We were able to help his family with a Nosebot and and Owlet, that insurance would not cover.
Helping our kids with all of their gross motor and sensory needs can be tough. But it's so important to keep up with therapy goals at home. We were excited to gift our friend here with a special rocking chair to help with sensory input and some cool stepping stones to help with balance and core strength.
Insurance doesn't always cover the equipment we need for our medically fragile children. We gifted this little guy with heart rate/O2 sensors that not only help him but that give his parents peace of mind while he sleeps.
When you are an athlete with Down syndrome, good orthotics are a must. We were able to provide this triathlete with a pair this spring!
In many cases, Down syndrome = tiny airways that lead to pneumonia and other breathing struggles. We have gifted several pulse oximeters to families in the Down syndrome community who were in need of one.
We have ongoing relationships with therapists who let us know when their families in the Down syndrome community cannot afford the toys their children need to practice reaching goals outside of therapy time. This was our first big donation to our EI therapists in MO.
